Craigslist was used by Craig as a small site for giving out help to people who needed it, random announcements of available jobs, events and room vacancies. At the beginning the name of his site was supposed to be “sf-events”, but good willed friends suggested the name “craiglist”. Although the owner was approached by a number of companies for the commercialization of craigs list, he chose to stay non-commercial in high merits for craiglist to stay as a non-profit organization. As a result many people have turned to craiglist for the things that they need which are not searchable anywhere else, and per month there are 5 billion hits on craiglist. From the smallest things as finding a small part for an old machine to a condo unit available in various cities, truly the craiglist is the only place for people who don’t want to get peppered by unwanted advertisements from companies that hinder their purpose of fast searching. In craiglist a person who wants to find something as fast as possible won’t have any ad problems, such as an undesired website opening as a pop-up. More so the blaring difference of craiglist from other companies is the number of employees needed to keep the site up and running. Only a handful of employees are needed by craiglist for maintenance, not even reaching fifty people under the payroll.
